Effective Date: December 1st, 2018
Collected information and how it’s used:
We may collect personal information from you, i.e. your name or email address, through voluntary submissions to Life’s Work Lab’s website by leaving a comment, subscribing to a newsletter, or submitting a contact form. Additionally, you are able to create a user profile, which allows you to create a username and password. Usernames are stored. However, your password is not visible to us.
Information Collected from Outside Parties:
We may receive information about you from other sources, such as a linked Facebook, Instagram, and/or Google account to your user profile. If you choose to connect your Facebook, Instagram, and/or Google accounts to your user profile, we will receive your name, email address and profile picture associated with that account. Life’s Work Lab utilizes these accounts in the commenting system, so if you choose to comment on a post on this website, your profile picture and name will appear.
We automatically collect certain information about you and the device on which you access this website. For example, when you use this website, we will log your IP address, operating system type, browser type, referring website, pages you viewed, and the dates/times when you accessed the website. We may also collect information about actions you take when using the website, such as links clicked. Your IP address will be anonymized.
Cookies are small pieces of data in text files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive (if you allow it) that enables the site’s system to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information.
They are used to ‘remember’ you and your preferences. They ensure a better experience for visitors, for example: allowing users to register and remain logged in. Cookies may be placed by the website you are visiting (first party cookies) or by other parties whose content is shown on this website (third-party cookies).
These three different types of cookies are being used on Life’s Work Lab:
STRICTLY NECESSARY COOKIES
These cookies are necessary for the website to function, without them the site would simply not work (well). We are not legally obliged to request your permission for these cookies, but we thought to inform you about them nonetheless. #transparency
We love to know how many people are visiting this website to read our work. That’s why we use tools and programs that place analytical cookies on your computer. We work with Jetpack and Google Analytics to keep track of how many people are visiting, where they were directed from and what they are reading most. It also lets us see where our readers are from. We can’t see you personally, we just see country flags and numbers.
SOCIAL MEDIA COOKIES
Embedded content coming from social media sites like Facebook, Youtube, Pinterest, Twitter, and Instagram often contains cookies. What these platforms do with these cookies is not made insightful, therefore we cannot tell you what exactly this cookie is for. To place these cookies, we need your permission.
HOW YOUR INFORMATION MAY BE USED
We may use the information collected in the following ways:
- To operate and maintain Life’s Work Lab;
- To create your account, identify you as a user of the website, and customize the website for your account;

YOUR RIGHTS RELATED TO YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Please keep in mind that we may need to retain certain information for recordkeeping purposes or to complete transactions, or when required by law.
On Life’s Work Lab, you may subscribe to our newsletter, which may be used for advertising purposes. All newsletters sent may contain tracking pixels. The pixel is embedded in emails and allows an analysis of the success of online marketing campaigns. Because of these tracking pixels, we may see if and when you open an email and which links within the email you click. Also, this allows us to adapt the content of future newsletters to the interests of the user. This behavior will not be passed on to third parties. For our mailing list, we use the service Mailerlite. Click the link to learn more about how they handle your data.

PERSONAL INFORMATION (COOKIES)
We may collect and store personal or other information that you voluntarily supply to us while using the website. The website only contacts individuals who specifically request that we do so or in the event that they have signed up to receive newsletters or have purchased products. Generally, this information includes your name and email address. All of this information is provided to us by you.
We also collect and store information that is generated automatically as you navigate online through the website. For example, we may collect information about your computer’s connection to the Internet, which allows us, among other things, to improve the delivery of our web pages to you and to measure traffic on the website. We also may use a standard feature found in browser software called a “cookie” to enhance your experience with the website. Cookies are small files that your web browser places on your hard drive for record-keeping purposes. By showing how and when visitors use the website, cookies help us deliver advertisements, identify how many unique users visit us, and track user trends and patterns. They also prevent you from having to re-enter your preferences on certain areas of the website where you may have entered preference information before. The website also may use web beacons (single-pixel graphic files also known as “transparent GIFs”) to access cookies and to count users who visit the website or open HTML-formatted email messages.
Users may, at any time, prevent the setting of cookies, by Life’s Work Lab, by using a corresponding setting of your internet browser and may thus permanently deny the setting of cookies. Furthermore, already set cookies may be deleted at any time via an Internet browser or other software programs. This is possible in all popular Internet browsers. However, if users deactivate the setting of cookies in your Internet browser, not all functions of our Website may be entirely usable.
Users may choose to turn off all cookies in their browser settings. Consult your browsers Help page and/or settings to learn how to do that.
You can delete all the third party cookies through Your Online Choices (http://www.youronlinechoices.com/). This way you can ensure that no party can track your online behavior on any website. This won’t mean you won’t see any more ads on this site, the ads just won’t be personalized anymore.
We would like it to be known that we may release information about our visitors when it’s appropriate to comply with the law or to protect the rights, property or safety of users of the website or the public.
Your information is stored at the list server that provides and sends newsletters, updates, and promotions for this website. Each email sent contains an unsubscribe link so that you can remove your information from the server at any time.
Life’s Work Lab does not knowingly collect data of minors (people aged <18). When you are under the age of 13 you should not provide us with any personal information. When you are a minor or a parent/legal guardian of a minor and you wish for your/their data to be removed from our database, please contact us at email@example.com
